HomePod security

Im concerned about security related to my HomePod. My HomePod has said there was a problem connecting to my ITunes account. I fixed it and now it’s doing it again not playing thru my Home pod (when I verbally prompt it with Sisi or am playing music on my IPhone that I then try to connect thru airplay with my device. Airplay shows 2 HomePods available (although I only have 1 plugged in). My Home app only shows 1 listed. I’m the only one listed in the Home.

I’m concerned about about a man in the middle attack. Any insight?

Also, I have shortcuts that I’m suspicious of and I can’t seem to submit a concern about them. Any insight?

Hey there AriellaRN,

While nothing so far indicates your Apple ID has been compromised, if you believe that it is, this link has the next steps to take: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised You can also use the steps in this link to see where you're signed in currently with your Apple ID: Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in

Regarding seeing two HomePods available for AirPlay, this very well may be a neighbor's HomePod, but that's only a guess. Let's rule out some possible causes to this occurring, along with learning more about what's happening:

  1. AirPlay shows two available devices, but to clear things up, how many HomePods do you currently have set up in your house?
  2. This link will show you how to update your HomePod to rule out being outdated: Update HomePod - Apple Support
  3. When did this start?

Cheers!

Thank you Bruno 75,

The devices will be listed in Airplay, but when I select one of the devices to play the music that is apparently playing on my iTunes, it won’t transfer. (And I have Handoff enabled).

I also don’t see the devices listed in my home app. They used to be but I moved, at the beginning of the year and ever since it’s been glitchy.

About a month ago, I deleted that home and then reset up again (with the help of Apple support) with the accessory and it worked fine but about 3 weeks ago it stopped.

Don’t know if this helps, but the device will play if I make a verbal request to Siri but not if I’m playing something Apple Music or Podcasts from my IPhone, then it won’t transfer over.

unfortunately, my phones out of storage space, and I don’t have enough room to do a software update

A new phone is definitely part of my Technology makeover.

If you have any other suggestions, I’m all ears. Thanks!
