To fix this, force restart you watch by holding the Digital Crown and side button (NOT the action button) for 10 seconds, then release when Apple logo is visible on screen.

So if you dunk it, you don’t get the water lock enabled?

(Water Lock does not change the inherent water resistance in any way. The control does disable the touch controls, as those mis-read when wet.)
