Calendar losing events

Calendar is failing spectacularly. I add an event and less than 12h later it is gone. No sign of it ever having been there. At first I thought it was a failure to sync between events sourced from emails (gmail) but it's also happening with events I add manually. It also seems to be getting worse, although this is a subjective assessment...

Pesky events like flights and business meetings vanish. I've looked to see if I can "rebuild" my calendars (as per other Apple software) but haven't found anything online. I can't afford to delete calendars and start over - these are critical for my work and in particular, work history - when/where I've had meetings with clients etc.

Would greatly appreciate any insights, and ideally, solutions to this issue. I'd prefer to stick with Calendar, but the way things are looking, the big G may end up my default application.

Thanks

Hi EJW Tas,

There are a few elements you can check to help narrow down possible causes for the behavior that you describe.

First, if you have multiple accounts configured for Calendar per Add or delete calendar accounts on Mac you may try adding test events using different accounts to see if the behavior is isolated to a particular account or service.

If these missing events were added to an account that offers a web interface, check there to see if the events are still present and not showing on your Mac.

If these are tied to an iCloud calendar, see Restore your calendars and events on iCloud.com for possible options to restore those.

Test this behavior in safe mode per How to use safe mode on your Mac and follow the subsequent steps depending on the results of that test.

Regards.

Thanks - apologies, I'm a tad confused. Most (6) of my calendars are on icloud but I have 3 on google as I use gmail as my primary email acct (sorry, but Apple Mail doesn't cut it).

I don't understand your instruction as to add/delete calendar accounts. Am I supposed to delete my calendars?

Apologies.

When I look at my calendar on icloud, there's no events showing. it sees just 3 of my 6 calendars but there are no events listed against any of them. my calendar on icloud is empty - nil events going back at least 15 months (all of 2022 to today) - nothing there at all... whereas my calendar (in year view) has a heat map of entirely reds and some oranges, so there is clearly no comms between my laptop and calendar on icloud...

suspect none of this is useful, my apologies again for my confusion
