Hello omnia278,

The message that you’re receiving from WhatsApp causes us some concern. If WhatsApp is concerned about the storage space for backing up your chats, you may be low on both iCloud and iPhone storage. Please review this article: What's the difference between device storage and iCloud storage? - Apple Support. If you’re a frequent user of WhatsApp, it will be adding to the storage space on your iPhone. Also, since WhatsApp backs up to iCloud Drive, there may be insufficient space there too.

These two articles show you how to check the storage space available in each place and how to reclaim some of it if needed:

How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

If there are things on your iPhone you don’t want to delete, these are the things you can sync through iCloud to alleviate the storage space on your iPhone: Apps and features that use iCloud - Apple Support. Here’s how to set it up: Use iCloud on iPhone - Apple Support. However, we want you to be aware that if you delete something on your iPhone, it’s also removed from iCloud as well.

Also, you can always upgrade your iCloud storage. Additional iCloud storage is a monthly subscription: iCloud+ plans and pricing - Apple Support.

Feel free to get back to us with any questions or problems you may have.

All the best.

Hi there omnia278,

If an app on your iPhone is saying that it needs more storage in iCloud in order to back up, follow these steps from Manage your iCloud storage to learn how to do this:

Make more space available in iCloud
If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up to iCloud, new photos and videos won't upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and messages won't stay up to date across your devices. And you also won't be able to send or receive emails with your iCloud email address.
You can free up storage in iCloud by deleting content that you're not using:
* Reduce the size of your iCloud Backup
* Delete photos in iCloud Photos
* Delete folders or files in iCloud Drive
* Delete texts and attachments in Messages
* Delete messages and manage Mail
* Delete voice memos
Before you delete anything, you might want to archive or make copies of the information that you store in iCloud.

For more information on backing up data from this specific app in iCloud, look over this helpful article from the app developer: How to back up to iCloud | WhatsApp Help Center

If you are trying to achieve something else, please send over more details so that we can continue to help.

Cheers!
