Photos crashes on my new iPadPro

There was no room for (many) more photos in the memory of my iPadPro (64 MB). I therefore ordered the latest generation iPadPro (512GB). I installed my new iPadPro as usual with the previous one right next to it. The installation went well, except for the Photos program! Only the series (Years, Months, Days and "all photos") are clickable. However, Photos keeps crashing when I choose the usual blue button just below the hour and date to start working at the photo folder level.

Hopefully someone has the solution to this problem. Thanks in advance!

Hello willemhb,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We understand Photos is crashing when you perform certain tasks after transferring your data to a new iPad. There may be a few causes for this.

To start, when you go to Photos, and scroll to the bottom, do you see that Photos are still uploading or downloading from iCloud? This process can take some time and may account for the inability to work in Photos. During the indexing process, we suggest staying connected to power, and connected to a known good Wi-Fi network. If this is the case, test again after Photos has finished indexing.

You might also try quitting the app and force restarting your iPad. Here is how: Force restart iPad - Apple Support

If that doesn't help, how did you transfer? A good method would be to use Quick Start. Here is how.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi Justin, Thank you very much for your reply! However, I tried all your suggestions already before, except one. I am not using iCloud, but instead local HD's for my photos, because of the huge number of my (HR) photos, iCloud is too expensive. I am now also in contact with Apple to solve this serious problem. Anyway, many thanks for your -thusfar first - reaction on this issue!

One month ago I posted this issue on this forum. Apart from that I contacted Apple Support. Apple Support escalated my issue to the next advisory level. Today I called Apple Support to ask how far they had come in the meantime. Their answer was: "people are working on it". The Apple Support coworker told me furthermore that more similar complaints had been received. At this point it seems strange to me that apparently no more people on this forum are bothered by this crashing program Photos!
