iPhone photo is under 8mb but is still "too powerful" for Discord?

I often try to share photos taken from iPhone to Discord and get the "too powerful" error message even if the image info 'i' says the mb size is well under the 8mb limit. A 3mb photo recently got this error, so is apple sharing a 4k screen capture of the image or something? I ended up screen capturing the thumbnail size in photos app and cropped, but that gives you a tiny image. Anyone else have this problem, because it happens to me every time i try to post an iPhone photo to Discord.
