How do I stop the Icloud pup up which has an old email address.
I have obtained correct email address on gmail and can us it on Icloud
but I cannot stop the screen from popping up. It ignores my efforts to
make it stop.

So we can better help, can you tell us what the message is asking for and where you're seeing it?
If you have iCloud for Windows installed, you may be seeing a message to sign in. If so, you may be able to remove the old account and sign in with your new accout.
