Hi Luis,

I finally discovered the root cause of the issue was my cable !

Here is the the photo of the cable :

After realizing the cable failure, I ordered new cable to test I and after few days I got it and tested it and unfortunately it did not work. I ordered another one which more expensive but look like more qualified. After few weeks I got my cable and now it is working as before.

Thank you for your time and help. I hope this article will be useful for someone else.

Hello serkan2012,

We understand you receive an error connecting your Sony camera to your Mac via adapter. We have some suggested steps to help determine what might be causing the issue. First, test it in another port. This will help determine if possibly the port you have your adapter connect to is where the issue lies.

If you happen to have another adapter, it would be beneficial to test that as well. Or if you have access to another Mac with macOS 13.3, that will rule out possibilities with the macOS update vs. your Mac specifically.

Finally, create a test user profile, log in to it, then see if your Sony camera is recognized. This will identify possible causes associated with your user profile. Here's how: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

We look forward to hearing how your testing goes.

Take care.

It certainly looks like something was broken by the update. One way to confirm it is if you can have temporary access to a different mac running an earlier version and check if it works there; or even oon the same mac if can install an earlier OS in a separate APFS container, or on an external drive.

Also, while this is not specific to Final Cut Pro, there are people on that forum using DV cameras with the same combination of adapters; it may be useful to know if others are seeing the same with 13.3.

If it’s confirmed, as it seems likely, that the problem lies with 13.3, you should report it to feedback:

Hi Soosie_J215,

Thank you for your kind attention,

Let me define the cases :

  1. First, test it in another port. This will help determine if possibly the port you have your adapter connect to is where the issue lies. => I have done the test for other two port of my M1 Max
  2. If you happen to have another adapter, it would be beneficial to test that as well. => I just bought the adapter few weeks ago and used for over a week without any issues. I need to purchase another one to try and I guess it is not feasbile as it is very expensive.
  3. Or if you have access to another Mac with macOS 13.3, that will rule out possibilities with the macOS update vs. your Mac specifically. => I tried with my work Mac and got the same result
  4. Finally, create a test user profile, log in to it, then see if your Sony camera is recognized.=> Done this with Apple support and nothing has changed :(

If you have any other suggestions, I would like to know them

Thanks

No not anymore. After working for over a week I lost the connection. I was using iMovie when it was working but tested on photoboot, QuickTime and a 3rd party video capture tool after losing connection. It does not exist on firewire or thunderbolt part.

Even the command below does not list camera

ffmpeg -f avfoundation -list_devices true -i ""

I do not know what happened but it was working for over a week and than stopped working.

Thanks.
