Bug in Apple Notes Printing

When I print notes on my Mac to either my HP inkjet or my Brother laser jet, the font size is ignored and all fonts are changed to the same default. What could be causing this?

I have had this problem a long time, probably over a year, and I always use the latest OS and latest OS update. Definitely had the problem before Ventura.

Thank you.

ps: I print via wifi. Pretty reliable other than this font issue..

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac, reset the font in notes and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Greetings Art M.,

To clarify, does the font change from a font that you installed back to the default font? If so, try removing and adding the font that's affected.

"Remove fonts

Open the Font Book app from your Applications folder. You can remove any font that isn't required by your Mac.

  1. Select the font.
  2. Choose File > Remove. Font Book moves the font to the Trash, and the font no longer appears in the font menus of your apps."

"Install fonts

  1. Double-click the font in the Finder.
  2. Click Install in the font preview window that opens. The font then appears in the Font Book app, and is available for use in your apps.

If you want the fonts you install to also be available to other user accounts on your Mac, use Font Book settings to set the default install location." Install or remove fonts on your Mac

We hope this helps!

Sincerely.
