Bluetooh / Sidecar not connecting

Two issues probably related.

iPad Pro and Macbook Pro not pairing via bluetooth. I either get a message from the ipad that the Macbook is not supported, or I get a message that the pairing is taking too long and has been aborted.

Macbook Pro not seeing iPad in control center for sidecar screen share.

Handoff is on

Restarted each a few times

Sidecar not working even when tethered to the iPad via the cable.

2019 MacBook: Ventura

Ipad Pro: OS is 16.3.1

iPad, iOS 9

Compatible models of iPad and Mac support the macOS/iPadOS Sidecar feature - but only when both support this feature:

Use iPad as a second display for your Mac – Apple Support

If either the host Mac or iPad do not support Sidecar, you might consider using an alternative third-party solution - such as Duet:

Both are supported.

Also should note that I’m using the same Apple ID on both devices
