I can’t see the image on my Apple TV app (on my Android TV)!

I have the Apple TV app on my Android TV—but I can’t see the image, only sound and subtitles. I’d also like to mention that via Developer Options in the settings of my Android TV, I have “Simulate color space” active (particularly: Monochromacy), as well as “Disable HW overlays” active. The reason for those settings is that I’m trying to get a black & white screen effect. My Android TV model is: Sony Bravia VH1. All software is up to date, as well.

Hello davey1001,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to see the video on your TV when you use some advanced options. The good news is there is a built-in tool for this:

1. "In the Apple TV app TV app, navigate to Settings.
2. Go to Video Troubleshooting, select Start, then follow the onscreen instructions."

And that is from here: Troubleshoot your video connection in the Apple TV app - Apple Support

If that doesn't help, you may want to try resetting the Apple TV app:

"In the Apple TV app TV app, navigate to Settings.
Go to Reset, then select Reset.
Resetting the Apple TV app restores it to original settings and removes your personal information, TV shows, and movies from the smart TV."

That is from here: Reset the Apple TV app - Apple Support

Otherwise, you may want to reach out to Sony TV support to see if the advanced options could be causing this issue.

Cheers!
