Spatial Audio always on but set off?

I don’t know if this is a bug or not but for the past month using my airpod pros the audio has been unbalanced. The spatial audio option is always off/Not playing however when putting in the airpods the audios would be unbalanced and I would have to reinsert them until they’re balanced. Sometimes I would notice the sound move while I turn my head or phone, which shows that it must be due to spatial audio despite it being off. This symptom can be seen on any app on an iPhone but NOT when connected to my windows laptop.

Hello IrohaChan,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to disable spatial audio when using your AirPods with your iPhone. Since you mention that your iPhone is not fully up to date to iOS 16.4, please update your iPhone as this is always a good first step when troubleshooting an issue:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

As far as not having spatial audio when using with your Windows computer, this is expected behavior as it is not a device that is compatible with this feature with AirPods:

"What you need
* AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation), AirPods Max, AirPods (3rd generation), or Beats Fit Pro
* The built-in speakers on an iPhone 7 or later, or on one of these iPad models:
* iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation) and later
* iPad Pro 11‑inch
* iPad Air (3rd generation) and later
* iPad (6th generation) and later
* iPad mini (5th generation) and later
* iOS or iPadOS 15.1 or later
* The built-in speakers on a Mac computer with Apple silicon
* Apple TV 4K with tvOS 15 or later
* Audiovisual content from a supported app"

And that is from here: Listen with spatial audio for AirPods and Beats - Apple Support

Cheers!
