Resetting Macbook

I bought a new MacBook Pro and want to give my old macbook pro to my mom. Right now, both MacBooks are syncing to the cloud. How do I reset the old one without losing everything that is on my new one and in the cloud etc? I just opened the old MacBook for the first time in months, and it is definitely still updating to reflect what is happening in my new MacBook. Thank you!

Use the following procedure on the old Mac and then your Mom can set it up as new. Note that the 2nd step in the procedure only applies to relatively new Macs. Nothing in the procedure will affect your data on the new Mac or iCloud. What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support
