You can find your Mac's local IP address as follows:

1. Click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen and select "System Preferences."
2. In the System Preferences window, click on "Network."
3. In the left-hand panel, select the network connection you're currently using (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc.).
4. You should now see your IP address listed in the right-hand panel under "Status."

Alternatively, you can also find the address by using the Terminal app:

1. Open the Terminal app by clicking on Spotlight Search (the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of your screen) and typing "Terminal."
2. Once the Terminal app is open, type "ipconfig getifaddr en0" (without quotes) and hit enter.
3. Your IP address should now be displayed in the Terminal window. Note that "en0" may need to be replaced with a different identifier if you're using a different network connection.

that may be an issue on your end. ipconfig getifaddr en0 is working on my iMac. (ethernet)

I just checked on my MBP. when on Wi-Fi, "ipconfig getifaddr en0" needs to be changed to "ipconfig getifaddr en1"

The outside IP, seen by the Internet world is handed out by your ISP...

"en0" would be for Ethernet; "en1" would be for Wi-Fi. Sorry, I should have clarified that in the steps I provided to the OP. Didn't know which from what little was provided.
