I recently switched from an iPhone XS Max to my moms old iPhone 12 Pro Max, which she had cleared. The problem is that I cannot send or receive texts or calls on this new phone, even though I switched everything over. I have not shut down the old phone yet, so that may be why but I am not sure. Also I never switched the sim cards and I don't know if I should. Does anyone know how to fix this? ty

If you experience issues like conversations in Messages showing up as separate threads or sent messages appearing as green message bubbles instead of blue message bubbles when you set up a new device, update your settings using the following steps:
If you have issues when you try to receive a FaceTime call after you set up a new device, you can also update your FaceTime settings.
