Onscreen Keyboard Won’t Go Away

I have been using the Logitech MX mini for Mac with my 5th Gen iPad Air for school. Everytime I go to type on my keyboard the ipad onscreen keyboard pops up and does not disappear. I have tried toggling off onscreen keyboard in assistive touch, I have tried restarting my ipad and disconnecting the keyboard and I have updated both devices. I am frustrated with the keyboard constantly covering half of my screen when I am attempting to do work. Is there anything I can do here or am I stuck with only half a screen when using my external keyboard?

That is a strange thing to occur, and we'd like to help rule out some possible causes, along with confirming more details to better understand what's happening:

When did this start to occur?
Does it only occur when pairing that Logitech keyboard with your iPad?
Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
Since you have a compatible iPad model, the latest version is iPadOS 16.4. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
Have you been able to test pairing that same keyboard with a different iPad to see if the same issue occurs?

I only got it recently so it's been the last two months or so. I haven't used it too much.
I don't have any other Bluetooth keyboards so I can't confirm if another would do the same
I have restarted it multiple times
yep was up to date when I wrote the post
I've paired it with my iPad mini and the keyboard goes away and I can type so yes only with the iPad Air

Please this is so frustruating i dont understand why it's happening
