Notes app is only opening the folders screen and showing I have zero notes or folders

I’m trying to open my notes app to record the stats for my latest run, however when I open the app it is displaying the folders section which is empty, despite me having folders. The only button it shows is the “new note” button and if I write a new note it doesn’t seem to save or go anywhere.

Any advice on what to do here would be greatly appreciated!
