MESSAGES NOT SYNCING WITH MY MAC LAPTOP

Icloud is turned on, but I just cannot get my phone messages to sync with messages on my Mac laptop...? I'm not a novice...and from what I see, the two should be syncing...photos, phone messages, etc are syncing...just not text messages....?

Messages on my Mac is not synced and up to date with my iPhone I'm having trouble getting my new and old messages to show up on my Mac. I'm on the same iCloud account on both my phone and computer and the best I can do is hit Sync Now, I see the Downloading Messages from iCloud at the bottom of my message app on my computer and then eventually nothing really happens.
