iPad/iPhone - Safari new tab favorites default wrong account

I am having a problem. Not sure why but when I open a new window the default favorites/bookmarks are from my wife's Apple account. I signed out on both my iPad/iPhone but it is syncing somehow and I can't seem to edit or change it. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I am even ok with starting over with new bookmarks/favorites, I just don't want it syncing with my wife's account. I also turned off Family Sharing already in case that was causing the problem but it didn't help.

Hi there PNG63,

If you are seeing favorite websites in Safari associated with another Apple ID account, have you and your wife ever shared the same Apple ID account on this iPad? This may be what caused these favorites to appear on the device.

Also, since you have signed out of iCloud and turned off Family Sharing on this iPad, try to delete these favorites with these steps from Bookmark favorite websites in Safari on iPad:

View and organize your bookmarks
1. Tap the Show Sidebar button, then tap Bookmarks.
2. Tap Edit, then do any of the following:
* Create a new folder: Tap New Folder at the bottom left, enter a name, then tap Done.
* Move a bookmark into a folder: Tap the bookmark, tap the Location, then tap a folder. Tap the Back button to return to your bookmarks.
* Delete bookmarks: Tap the Delete button.
* Rename bookmarks: Tap the bookmark, enter a new name, then tap Done.
* Reorder bookmarks: Touch and hold The Reorder button, then drag the bookmark to a new location.

If you are still unable to remove or manage the bookmarks on your iPad, please provide more details on what happens when you try so that we can isolate what's happening further.

Thanks!
