Fonts and Fontbook in OS Ventura on M1

Hi. I've been having issues the last few months with fonts installing properly into fontbook. In most cases there will be a font family and only one font type is installed. I.e: gotham light, regular, medium, bold, black. In this case I install the family both together and then I've tried separately and only medium will install. then when I try to install another font, it overwrites medium and replaces it. Anyone else having this issue? I can see all the fonts in the folder structure but they are not coming up in programs.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Hi Tried the suggestions. Thanks. Still having issues even after trying to install in safe mode. In safe mode it's telling me the fonts are invalid and won't install. both ttf and otf. In standard mode they install but all members of the families don't show up and they cause the application to run sluggish. Thoughts? thanks.

What I am seeing is, if I install the entire font family, in this case Gotham, only one member will install - or at least be visible for use. It's typically Gotham Medium. If I install one member at a time, the new member will overwrite the previous member and only the latest member will appear. I'm seeing this across the board in After Effects, Photoshop, and Word. thanks.
