MacMail
Hello ... my question is:
How to arrange order of eMail accounts in the MACMAIL side bar? I am using a 24" iMac with OS 12.6. I found the old way of moving them around no longer works. Thanks!!!!

According to Apple docs, in Monterey you should be able to arrange by dragging:
Move or copy mailboxes in Mail on Mac – Apple Support (AU)
There was an issue in High Sierra where you had to go to your Internet Accounts settings and select each account and shut it off. Then you could turn them on in the order you want them to appear. Don't know if that was later corrected in an update to High Sierra, but it should not affect you on Monterey.
Here is the page I referenced. It is from Apple Support for using Mail on Monterey. I posted it to clarify that it should still work like the way you thought and there may be another reason why you are having trouble.
Have you tried rebuilding your Mailboxes? This has helped in cases where people have had trouble with a particular Mail box, but not with all like you are experiencing, so not sure it would have an effect. When you rebuild an IMAP account, it will remove all emails and redownload from the server, just so you know:
Mail > select a mail box in sidebar > Mailbox > Rebuild.
Hi Mac Jim
In the link I see no ref to Monterey.
The method mentioned is the way I use to move my mail boxes around.
This no longer works in OS 12.5.
It seems Apple has changed something that prevents the moving of mail
boxes in the old way.
Hello Again
First ... I want to sincerely thank you for all the time you have spent with me!!!!
I am fairly MAC knowledge so I followed all you mentioned with no problem. It has been so many years since I used Rebuild A Mailbox I had totally forgotten that idea.
When I go to move a Mailbox using both your suggestions it appears to pass the first Mailbox and even shows the normal horizontal line moving. But it will only pass one Mailbox and when doing so it does not physically move down. It stays put. Boy! I wish I could trash MacMail and reinstall it as it does kinda do weird things once in a while. Like I said I totally understood and followed your instructions. I have no idea what to try next. Again thank you so much!!
Good Morning ... again and sorry more than a bit late. A lot going on recently in my life.
Yesterday I downloaded OS Ventura 13.3.1 .... No clue why but doing so seemed to have fixed my MacMail issue.
Again thank you so much for your help and sticking with me trying to figure it out. Best Regards!!!
I can rearrange mail boxes in the Mail sidebar just by dragging them to a new location. I'm using Ventura 13.3, so you may need to update, if possible.
thanks MacJim
Zup! That is the way I use to do it. Seems Apple has changed it as in the current OS that method no longer works.
Any Extensions at Mail > Settings > Extensions?
Does a Safe Boot allow you to move your mailboxes?
Good Morning ...l have not had a chance to try the Safe Boot. Want to do it when I have extra time in the event things turn to worms. For sure I will get back to you. MANY THANKS!
