Cleaning up my music files

I have been using iTunes/ Music for decades and my music library is a mess. I want to clean it up and get rid of the duplicates once and for all. I've been DJing for 10 years and I have files on multiple, external drives..; any suggestions?

Hi there Macdaddy13,

If you have all your music from these different drives imported into the Music app on your Mac, use these steps from Find duplicate items in Music on Mac to locate duplicate songs:

1. In the Music app  on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar.
2. Select an item, then do one of the following:
* Find every instance of that item in your library: Choose File > Library > Show Duplicate Items.
* Find exact duplicates: Hold down the Option key, then choose File > Library > Show Exact Duplicate Items.

If all this music is not imported onto the Music app of your Mac, this article shows how to import songs from multiple different sources: Get started by adding music to Music on Mac

Once all your music is imported, follow the first steps to locate duplicates and remove them. You can also sort your songs using the recommendations here: Sort songs in Music on Mac

If you are trying to do something more specific, please provide more details so that we can continue to assist.

Cheers!
