I just replaced the internal hard drive on my 2011 27” iMac and when I boot in internet recovery mode and get to “install Mac OS X” it has no disks to select. (Sorry pics are sideways)
Earlier Mac models
You must use Disk Utility to format the 2 TB APPLE HDD for use with Mac OS.
Erase/Format and use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and GUID as the partition scheme.
Name the drive Macintosh HD.
Once that is done, try to reinstall the OS again.
