transferring music from old laptop to new MacBook?

I decided to upload all the music onto my iPhone and tried downloading it onto the new laptop. This didn't work. It only lets you upload from MacBook to the phone and not the other way around.

What do I need to do here? Seems like it shouldn't be this complicated. I also want to maintain my playlists and not have thousands of songs in random order.
