The iPhone I found...is MINE!!

Very long and painful story short....

This morning, I was texting away and suddenly iMessage & iCloud said I had been logged out please log in. Did what it said to so many times, went in circles, it wasn't working. Eventually the phone shut down and reset. When it turned on...it had really reset. Please select a country, a language...wait! Just kidding. "THIS PHONE HAS BEEN REPORTED LOST OR STOLEN BY THE OWNER".....

Uhm no? I am the owner. Yeah...you can imagine how confused I was. Needless to say, I suddenly was holding a phone that did not work at all. And cue the panic. I started with T-mobile. They couldn't help. Eventually I made my way to the Apple store. After almost punching the manager in the face, his only help was to "sell me a phone". They didnt help either. In between all this I found emails from AIG saying I sent a claim regarding my lost/stolen iPhone (nope I did not). The ONLY thing I had done was look on Apple Support to see my coverage because the back of my phone is cracked and I need to do a claim to have that fixed..never actually filled anything out, sent anything, etc. Another email from Apple on how they went in and started to erase my iPhone and all of its contents. Think I died a little when I read that. I spent my entire day...12+ hours....between the driving, the phone calls, the chat time, the stores, trying to fix this. Yet I still have no solution. I still have no idea on how to get this fixed asap, how to get into my phone or get a new phone without having to pay!! No clue who is going to rectify this, make me feel somewhat better..anything. I gave up on all of Apples "customer support". They are so useless its not even funny. I have been looking things up now myself and hoping my fellow apple users can guide me. Right now I have figured a way into iCloud.com, the phone is "erased" off of "find my iPhone", I need to figure out how to reverse the "activation lock"...

Anyone??

If you do not remember the Apple ID Password then follow the steps given in this Apple Article -> If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If you are the owner or the owner has shared all information with you then to open Activation Lock:- If it is Activation locked, read here --> Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Learn how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their Apple ID.

Turn off Lost Mode on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple Watch

When you find your lost device, do either of the following to turn off Lost Mode:

  • Enter your passcode on the device.
  • In Find My iPhone on iCloud.com, click All Devices, then select the device that is in Lost Mode. Click Lost Mode, click Stop Lost Mode and then click Stop Lost Mode again.

Note: If you had any cards suspended when you put your device in Lost Mode (credit or debit cards for Apple Pay, student ID cards or Express Travel cards), when you turn off Lost Mode and sign back into iCloud, you can use them again.
