Screen sharing not allowing me to login, instead it shows a loop animation

Hi, this one got me stumped.

I am used to accessing a remote mac (it's a Mac Studio with M1 Ultra running Ventura) using Screen Sharing.

I can access it either by launching the Screen Sharing application and choosing the machine to connect to, or by entering the proper URL in Safari (vnc://address).

All fine and dandy.

At times, there is already another user (whom I know) logged in, and in that case it asks me if I want to ask to view the screen, or if I want to login to my own account.

Again, that is perfectly normal and expected.

I choose to login to my account, and there I go.

But now, after I enter my login credentials, it does something I never even knew existed: it shows a loop animation based on the familiar Ventura login image. It loops that animation and it does not go away.

All I can do is quit Screen Sharing.

If I try again, it repeats the same thing.

It seems a bit unbelievable, so I captured a snippet of it in this gif.

Any ideas? TIA
