compression ratio of icloud photos to zip

what is the compression ratio when I download photos from icloud into a zip file. I am trying to work out if I have enough space on my phone to download all my photos from icloud (something like 170gb!!) or if anyone can tell me how to download the files to an external drive and not the phone. -I know I can do this on the pc but I really would like to do it on the phone. Thanks in advance
