iPad pro 2021 freeze while covering the iPad with case

My iPad pro 2021 keeps freezing just when I cover the screen with the case. It doesn't happen anytime else and if I don't cover the screen it won't freeze. It has the latest software update and I even did a dfu restore but it's still the same. If I cover the screen with the case and immediately uncover so it won't freeze, but if I cover it for more than a minute or so it will freeze. Sometimes it freezes for a minute or so and then back to normal and if not then I do hard reset and then it's back to normal. How can I fix it?

Hello tomul,

We would like to see how we can help you with your iPad Pro freezing unexpectedly. Is the case covering any of the sensors at the top of the iPad? Are you having this issue when using any other case with your iPad? If not, we would recommend using a different case with your iPad. Here is an excerpt from the article that you viewed prior to posting: If your iPad won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

"On your iPad without a Home button

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button closest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button until the device begins to restart.
  4. If your iPad doesn't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your device. You might need to charge for up to an hour.
  5. If your iPad still doesn't turn on, contact Apple Support.

On your iPad with a Home button

  1. Press and hold both the Home button and the top button until you see the Apple logo.
  2. An iPad with arrows pointing to the Home button and the top button.
  3. If your iPad doesn't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your device. You might need to charge for up to an hour.
  4. If your iPad still doesn't turn on, contact Apple Support."

Hey. So it did the same thing with a different case. I bought a Magic Keyboard and it seems like this problem disappeared and it’s no longer freezing so I don’t know what is this problem. I’ve got new problems now that with the keyboard my battery drains to 0% even when I’m not using the iPad and the case is closed. Also , when I open the case with the keyboard , my Face ID isn’t working and it will start to work just after a while of using the iPad. Do you have any idea about these problems? Thank you

Hello tomul,

It sounds like your Magic Keyboard is draining the battery quickly when connected to your iPad. And Face ID isn't working as expected.

Have you made sure your iPad is up-to-date. Apple's updates can help resolve issues both big and small.

Here is how to update your iPad: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Also, be sure to follow the advice in the section, "Check battery usage" in About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It will guide you to see if there are other contributing factors to your battery draining quickly.

What are the brightness settings for your iPad? Check out the section, "Adjust trackpad settings and keyboard brightness" in Set up and use Magic Keyboard for iPad. We'd recommend temporarily lowering the brightness and seeing if that helps to prolong the time between charges.
