can't burn cd

How is the drive connected? Have you tried the drive on another Mac?

An ancient Lacie Portable DVD -RW works just fine on 3 different Apple Machines all running Ventura 13.3.1.
The Drive is Connected Directly to the computers without any USB HUB in-between the DVD-RW and computer
Mac does not have USB 2 port as required by my DVD Writer so I am using USB3/2 converter directly to Mac. No joy!
Sorry but mine works fine with a USB-A to USB- C goggle
will send a pic of the doggie tomorrow once off the iPhone
