Wrong date on the Apple calendar for the Kings Coronation.

Good morning

I know this may seem a bit picky, but the Kings Coronation date has been preloaded on to the Apple calendar as the 8th May 2023.

The actual Coronation is on the 6th May 2023, the 8th is just a Public holiday. I have tried to change this but it won’t let me.

I’m just wondering why every other occasion on the calendar (ie Easter, Christmas etc) is listed correctly but they’ve got this wrong.

Thank you

It's not wrong. The entry is not for the ceremony, as if you have an invite, you'd enter that yourself ;). The entry is for the public holiday associated with the event.

It is incorrect in every meaningful sense. It says "Coronation of King Charles III" - it does not say it is a Bank Holiday. It might mean it is a bank holiday but that is not what it says. And the colour is no indication that it is a bank holiday - April Fool's Day, British Summer Time and Mother's Day, none of which are Bank Holidays, are also in the calendar's automatic colour. I get you don't approve of the way Apple chose to handle their calendar. You can let them know for the next time here:

But it IS wrong - the entry simply says “The Coronation of King Charles the III” and that will not happen on the day Apple have added to the calendar (8th). It is not a vauge stayement but an absolute one (which is absolutely wrong). I responded to the question “when is the coronation” by saying Monday, because I foolishly trusted my iPhone.

It is true that it is in the category of public holidays, but then if the actual event was on the Monday that would still be a public holiday so I had no reason to doubt the entry.

I would think calendar entries are a good place for accuracy and pedantry, otherwise a calendar is worse than useless.

The answer (as suggested by others) is for it to be worded in a different way - maybe “Coronation Bank Holiday” if they want to keep the word count down.

You are wrong! It clearly states on the Apple calendar that the coronation date is on Monday the 8th but the coronation is taking place on the Saturday so the calendar is wrong, the Monday is the bank holiday associated with the holiday

If it's a bank holiday, it's a holiday. The event itself is not the holiday.

So, while it may not be the way you would have done it, it's not wrong. And what does it really matter? You obviously know when the event is taking place. It is not a recurring event.
