I bought a new iwatch and am having trouble repairing the phone and watch. they were working fine until I resynced the phone for some missing info from the old phone. Now the watch and phone are no longer paired.

You can only do that by pairing to the old iphone.
Watch can only be paired to one phone at a time.
When you unpair from old and pair back to new phone you will lose that data again
You would do better copying the data from old phone to new.
