Timer no longer wotking

I have iPhone 11 updated to iOS 16.4.1 & have shut down & restarted MANY times. The timer (set anywhere between 5 mins & 2 hrs) while watching a series on Britbox continually fails to stop the video. Well- that’s not exactly true. There’s a TINY blip of silence (barely a second!) at tge supposed stopping point & then it rolls right along -all night!!- until I stop it manually when I wake up in the morning. HELP!

Hey vadnaytibs,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're using the timer on your Clock app and expecting that when it goes off for it to stop your series playing on Britbox. This is not the purpose of the timer though. It has no connection to your Britbox app and is simply designed to go off once the timer hits 0:00. It sounds like it's doing this which is good to hear as this is what it's designed to do and you shouldn't expect it to stop until you manually disable it.

Hello vadnaytibs,

It looks like UTBadger may have been mistaken, so we'd like to provide some additional information. Per the tip in Use the timer or stopwatch on iPhone - Apple Support "If you want to fall asleep while playing audio or video, you can set the timer to stop the playback. Tap When Timer Ends, then tap Stop Playing at the bottom."

If that's not happening with you set a timer in the Clock app, please contact Apple Support to look into this issue further with you: Get Support

Thanks.

Well, I would say that makes sense, but until very recently it absolutely DID do EXACTLY what I said it did - for the past at least 2 years I’ve been using it that way and UT WORKED. I would watch something (streaming) on HBO max or Netflix or Britbox, set the timer for ‘stop playing’ and when the timer ran out, whatever I was streaming stopped. Period. Ended. Worked perfectly.

I listen to my music the same way. It still works with the music, but no longer with any video. It DOES stop the video for like a second - you can see it hesitate/audio pauses and then immediately starts again.

if Apple feels taking away a functioning feature is good business they need new marketing folks.
