I worked hours on a clip in timeline from the Open Clip in dropdown menu. I got it just right and wanted to return to the main project, thinking it would have populated in it's edited form in the main timeline (Storyline?). I clicked the back arrow button above the timeline and it did not show in the browser nor did it attach to the timeline from which I originally selected "Open Clip". HELP!

If you edited directly inside a clip instead of in a project, then that's where those edits will exist. You can add this edited clip into your project.
Common reasons for opening and directly editing a clip are to fix audio sync or something else basic, not really to do extensive editing.
