Keeping playlists when joining an Apple One family group

My son has an Apple Music account where he has assembled many large playlists. I'm in a family group with him (he's the organizer) and use Apple Music but haven't created playlists or added a lot of music to my library. I just signed up for Apple One. If we close the family group where he is the organizer and create a new one with me as the organizer, and he uses Apple Music through my subscription, how can we ensure that he will retain access to all of his playlists, etc.?

Hello graspingwastrel,

Thanks for checking the article. The information is the same, as long as you use your own Apple ID for your Apple Music subscription, when you move into a new Family Group and/or if someone joins another bundle, everything will be the same.

Get an Apple Music family subscription - Apple Support

"Each member of an Apple Music family subscription can stream millions of songs from the Apple Music catalog. And each family member gets their own personal music library, and music recommendations based on what they love to listen to."

It may take time for the bundle to kick in, as the individual subscriptions end at different times, but once you are in the new Family Group, and subscribe to Apple One, then the individual subscriptions will fall off.

You do not want to end your subscriptions prior to subscribing to Apple One, or before making the new Family Group.

The follow on help article also mentions info about iCloud Storage: What happens to your iCloud storage when you sign up for Apple One - Apple Support

Thanks.

Hey there graspingwastrel,

After setting up for your Apple ID to have an Apple One subscription with you as the Family Sharing organizer, then inviting your son to join your Family Sharing group, he will retain all of his playlists as the subscription will just carry over.

We found this detail listed near the bottom of the section 'How to get Apple One' near the top here: Bundle Apple subscriptions with Apple One

Cheers!

Thanks. But that doesn't completely answer my question. Right now my SON subscribes to Apple Music. But the Apple One subscription is mine. And I'm currently in a family sharing group where he is the organizer. The answer on that page speaks to a situation where I am subscribing to Apple Music and then I subscribe to Apple One. So there are two questions here: 1) what about when the Apple Music subscriber and the Apple One subscriber are different people? 2) what happens if we kill the current family group to create one with me as the organizer?
