macOS 13 Ventura BREAKS Panasonic TV connection via HDMI.

The "Apple - System Settings - Displays" shows the Built-in Display ONLY. The Panasonic Smart Viera TX-L47DT60E television (TV) is not shown, even after pressing the Option key and "Detect Displays". Nothing else is detected.

Is there a way to fix it, or is it a Ventura bug?

No problem with previous macOS versions, including Sierra, Big Sur or Monterey, in which such TV automatically showed in "Apple - System Preferences - Displays".

System: macOS 13.3 (22E252) Ventura on iMac 27-inch Retina 5K display 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7 7th-generation; model identifier iMac18,3 mid 2017) 40 GB RAM.

That being the case, the problem is Panasonic has not made their product compatible with Ventura. It's their responsibility to do that. Ventura apparently revealed a existing deficiency in Panasonic, but retro compatibility solutions may be impossible.

Unfortunately, a fix by Panasonic may not be coming. I use to get periodic firmware updates for our Samsung TV but it's age has stopped that. It remains to be seen if Panasonic can do that or if they will

That's not what I was talking about. There are various versions of HDMI. Some TVs have the ability through the onscreen menu system to change the HDMI version used.

No such option in Panasonic. As said, no problem before. It arose with Ventura and only for Intel Macs (no problem with Apple silicon ones). It is a Ventura bug.

You keep repeating that as though it matters to us. We can't do anything about Apple bugs or Panasonic firmware.

All we can offer is things to try to workaround the issue.

If it is a Ventura bug, revert back to Monterey or earlier, if possible. Perhaps it will work in Sonoma, but nobody here would be able to say if it does.

Before I updated to Ventura, I thought “I bet I’m gonna regret this.” Sure enough, straight out of the gates, this happens. F*** Apple.
