For a year I had the current local temperature showing properly on my watch but now it doesn’t work. I deleted the weather app on phone and reinstalled but still nothing. I rebooted my watch and now it just shows “weather “. When I touch it on the watch it says “launch the phone app and add a location to see weather”
Nothing seems to work.
can anyone help?

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)
Uninstall Weather from iphone.
Reinstall the correct Apple Weather app on the iphone
then pair Watch again.

If you get temperature and other weather indications for any other locations the app is working correctly. That would mean the likely cause of problems you are seeing is a breakdown between your local weather station and Apple’s server providing data to your iPhone. The same consideration applies for weather in your Apple Watch.

So my advice like yours to LeChef2604 is not to wait for a fix that is already fixed.,
In addition to all the great advice LD150 offered, please note it has been widely reported Apple has had server side issues with the Weather App over the last couple weeks.
Considering that I’ve never before had issues like this, your information makes very good sense. I can live without the weather on my watch so I’ll wait for a correction and update from Apple.

You're welcome. While it has been widely reported of weather issues on the Apple side, I've not had any issues on my watch or iPhone. I just thought it it "might" be a server issue. But if I wanted weather to work on my watch and it wasn't, I wouldn't necessarily wait it out.

I have not had any server issues either, but then I am the other side of the world with probably different servers.
If you google weather issues with Apple, you'll find plenty of articles. But yes, I think it matters where you are and what servers you may be connected to.
This is my next step but not urgent. I’m just too lazy to pull out my phone to check weather 🤷🏻♂️ BTW I’m in Canada so server issue is possible.
