iPhoto not loading on iPhone 11 after 16.4.1 update?

Updated my iPhone 11 to the 16.4.1 update yesterday (4/8/2023), and since, when opening iPhoto on its own (not through the camera), I am just getting a black iPhoto screen until the iPhoto app crashes. I can open iPhoto through then camera, then select “All Photos” at the top right of the screen. If I try and go to “Albums” or something else from the initial iPhoto screen (accessed through the camera), the photo app freezes up. Any ideas?

the Settings/name/iCloud/iPhoto option shows “On” for using iCloud.

Here are some things you can try to fix the iPhoto app crashing on your iPhone 11:

  • Force quit iPhoto. To do this, double-click the Home button (on iPhone 8 or earlier) or swipe up from the bottom of the screen (on iPhone X or later) to open the app switcher. Then, swipe up on the iPhoto app card to close it.
  • Restart your iPhone. To do this, press and hold the Side button (on iPhone 8 or earlier) or the Sleep/Wake button (on iPhone X or later) until the power off slider appears. Then, slide the power off slider to turn off your iPhone. After a few seconds, press and hold the Side button (on iPhone 8 or earlier) or the Sleep/Wake button (on iPhone X or later) until you see the Apple logo.
  • Update iPhoto. Go to the App Store and check for updates for iPhoto. If there is an update available, install it.
  • Update your iPhone's software. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and check for updates. If there is an update available, install it.
  • Delete and reinstall iPhoto. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and tap on iPhoto. Then, tap Delete App and confirm. Once iPhoto is deleted, go to the App Store and download it again.
  • Restore your iPhone to a previous backup. If none of the above solutions work, you can restore your iPhone to a previous backup. This will erase all of the data on your iPhone and restore it to the state it was in when you made the backup. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Then, enter your passcode and confirm that you want to erase your iPhone. Once your iPhone is erased, you can restore it from a backup that you made before the problems started.

If you're still having problems after trying all of the above solutions, you can contact Apple Support for help.
