Please forgive the basic lingo.
I have a late 2015 iMac. The display is fine. I have a new Mac Mini and I would like to use the iMac only as a monitor.
Is this possible? I have a thunderbolt 2 on the back of my iMac. Is there a cable that would make this work?

Sorry, that is no longer possible as it once was.
Target Display Mode isn’t supported on iMac models with Retina display. Only iMac (27-inch, Late 2009), iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010), and iMac (Mid 2011 to Mid 2014) support Target Display Mode. Target iMac also must be running 10.13.6 or less.
I haven't tried it, but Turn any Mac or iPad into a second display...

Nope not possible. You MM needs a dedicated external display. Sorry if I sound abrupt but we get your question multiple times every day.
please remember iMacs are computers, they are not external displays for other devices.
I actually searched for this question prior to posting and the problem is not everyone is familiar with more advanced lingo.
The responses were too "techy" to follow or centered around using an old iMac as a second monitor. I've actually been searching for a solution for two days but nobody said WHY it wouldn't work.
well a imac would still be running as a full computer if used as a monitor so it's watt usage would be maybe 3 or 4 times that of a normal computer monitor
but you can suggest they try to reenable the target display mode by using their feedback channel
Understand. I think Apple is missing a major environmental opportunity. I hate getting rid of something that is otherwise intact.
