I hope someone does something nice for you today, sir! For taking the time and posting this solution, you saved us from having to purchase a brand new ipad to connect to the internet when nothing changed except the specific router we had. It went on the fritz and was dropping connectivity consistently, we’d have thirty mins tops of good connectivity and then bam it would quit again. Nothing helped. Got new gateway, same model, just new device and old iPad wouldn’t connect. Since everything was the same except for the actual specific device, it didn’t make any sense that it wouldn’t work anymore. Wife noticed the security setting was different when trying to manually connect to it. Your response popped up from my query and less than 3mins later, we have a connected iPad and a very happy little boy.
Seriously, thank you for taking the time to help. It may be just an old iPad to some people but having to replace it meant there would be no ipad and that would have been a HUGE inconvenience and aggravation that a 7yr old just wouldn’t understand.
