no sound on Samsung TV from MacBook Pro

my Mac book pro (new purchased June 2022) was happily playing through my Samsung tv with sound coming through TV then about 2 weeks ago it suddenly stopped. Now if I try to change the settings in Sounds the TV program I'm streaming goes fast forward and will not play. If I reset the sound to Mac in settings it happily plays the video but the sounds trough the ;laptop - not great for big movies. Ive checked the HDMI cable and it's not that. I am using an apple product converter to put the HDMI into the Mac

Ok, got it - you have the Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2, 2022), which does not have a standard HDMI port, and you have to use the apple adapter, right? What happens if you connect the adapter on the first port (right port, not left) and connect your power adapter on the adapter port number one (see picture below) - you still have the same behavior?

I have probably a same setup as you, but I have some questions regarding your comment: "I am using an apple product converter to put the HDMI into the Mac" - what do you mean by that? You are not using the standard HDMI port provided on you MBP? I'm currently using a MBP 14" connected to a Samsung LT24 through a HDMI port.

Yes. I’ve tried all combinations. Have changed the hdmi cable. Next idea was to try someone else’s TV and after that the adapter. Just odd that it happened overnight and how the video skips etc when I switch to tv speakers option in pc settings?

thought maybe some upgrade had caused it?
