I am wanting to get a watch that will include the best in cardiac monitoring (EKG and Afib). I see the 8 has a 6 week summary of Afib that correlates events with time of day, activity, etc. Does 7 have this ? Also is there any differences in the monitoring systems ? My husband needs the best available. Thank you !!!!
Apple Watch Series 7
I think you would find very little practical difference for heart functions between Apple Watch 7 and Apple Watch 8. The hardware is very similar, most of the functions are set by the software for the Apple Watch and the paired iPhone. Both watch versions should be using the same WatchOS version so their functions will be almost identical.
In other words, if you already have Watch 7 it is probably not worth the upgrade to Apple Watch 8. However, lobsterghost1 makes a very good point that if you are buying now, only Apple Watch 8 is available as current product.
Apple Watch Series 7 was discontinued last October, so buy the newest Apple Watch Series 8 and you'll have the latest features.
