how to add multiple photos to favorites in Photos ios

Well I've looked, and have not found an answer to adding multiple photos to favourites in Photos iOS.

I can select multiple photos, click the share button, select "add to album".... but Favourites (one of the default albums), conveniently does not appear there!

I could create my own album to add to, but I like to have the heart symbol appended to the photo thumbnail in the library. And doing photos individually is a pain when I know I have a group of them I would like to favourite.

I have read one user saying "drag to the favourites album" after making selection, but I do not see how to make the albums available to drag to, after making a selection in all photos (except through the share button > add to album, but Favourites album does not appear there).

Is there a preferences option somewhere to make the favourites album appear with all other albums when selecting an album to add photos to?
