Cannot play Audiobooks on Books

I was in the middle of relistening to an audiobook I have had for a while when the audiobook stopped playing. There is a small little spinning wheel where the time of the chapter usually goes and the play button won't change to pause. I can hear static in my airpods as if the app is trying to make something happen but nothing does. I have let the audiobook sit for a while thinking it was just lagging but even after 5 minutes, the little spinning wheel just continues to go with nothing happening. I have deleted the books app and redownloaded it, turned my phone off and on again, closed the app multiple times, and tried downloading the audiobook again. Nothing is working. For reference, Audible is working just fine...
