scammers using fax tone to steal info from wallet?

It is possible or is it just a coincidence.......

1) I received this morning a phone call from an unknown number.

2) I made the mistake of answering.

3) When answered I heard a beep like it was a fax machine.

4) Noticed that my wallet app opened.

5) In my wallet app, I had my CC info

6) Couple of hours later I received a notification from my CC card app of a fraudulent transaction

7) Is that possible, that the fax tone stole my CC info?

Luckily the merchant and bank detected a fraudulent transaction.

Perhaps this is already a known scam, but I learned my lesson.
