Lacie hard drive not recognised since macOS update to 13.3.1

Since my macOS update to 13.3.1 I have no recognition of my 4TB Lacie hard drive and have checked the cable, used another cable, tried in all USB ports, and the lacie is not loading in Finder or Disk utility. The blue light is on but I cannot hear the drive loading. I have no other computer to try the drive in. I started the macbook in safe mode and the Lacie still was not recognised. If the Lacie needs an update, I cannot do this as it is not connecting to the laptop. Any suggestions? the lacie is only 5 months old.

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

The current release of Ventura is 13.6.4. I suggest you update to that and see if there's any improvement to you problem.

Also give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Don't have a solution for this but I have exactly the same problem.

I updated my Mac to the latest MacOS Sonoma and it worked fin for the first couple of weeks, then all of the sudden when I plug in the light blinks, the cable is working but the external does not want to show up or connect.

Went to my work PC and it connected fine so it's not the cable or the LaCie itself.

Only conclusion that I can think of is that its a MacOS problem.

Hope Apple can fix this in an Update as I need the info on that hard drive for Final Cut Pro!

I have the 8Tb lace 2 big. It keeps ejecting all the time (running 13.3.1). Can't access it. Can't update firmware on it.

Same problem with my 1Tb Lacie drive. I can see it in Disk Utility but I have run disc First Aid and it comes up with "Could not mount AppleAPFSMedia"(com.apple.DiskManagement/disenter error 49218.) It still does not appear in the Finder side bar (not mounted). The drive has worked fine for over a year. Running Sonoma 14.2.1. At a loss on what to do. Perhaps try buying a new drive?
