Why is Calendar asking me to add my own card to Contacts?

I set up a Calendar event and wanted to receive an email alert. I got this message:

My card and email are obviously already in Contacts. I receive email and have logins to Music etc on this computer, and there are no other accounts. Can anybody explain what's going on? Have I misunderstood this message?

Yes, I opened Contacts, fiddled about not knowing what to alter. Still not able to set up an email alert. Same thing happens on iMac (Ventura), iMac (Big Sur) and AirBook (Ventura). Here is screenshot of System Settings:

There must be something fundamental that I'm overlooking, but it doesn't make any sense to me.
