How do I turn off 2 factor identification?

I have an iPad I do not always have with me. I tried to watch Apple TV but could not login because I did not have my iPad. Can 2 factor I’d be turned off?

No. Once enabled it cannot be turned off if it's been more than 2 weeks since it was turned on.

You should have a trusted device or at the very least a trusted phone number set on your Apple ID you always have access to, to get the 2 Factor Authentication codes. The trusted number can even be a landline or Android device capable of receiving SMS messages. The code will be sent as a voice message or SMS depending on the settings for the trusted number.
