I know this is supposed to happen, automatically, but I am still on v5B58. It hasn't automatically updated, since then and now its supposed to be v5E133.
What is the trick to force the update? (clicking on the (i) does nothing but display the outdated firmware and/or settings.)

There actually is a way to force update your AirPods. (Kinda) If you have a Mac, you can plug in your AirPods into your Mac and maybe wait for 15 minutes. This should do the trick. Hopefully this helps.

Connecting your AirPods to any iOS, iPadOS or MacOS device is supposed to install the firmware update automatically.
