In Apple Mail v.16 I keep getting this error message:
Mail Password Required
Enter your password for "MYUSERNAME" in Internet Accounts.
Then:
Can't connect to the account "ACCOUNTNAME".
Enter the password for user "LOGIN NAME".
Password:
I enter the password to correct the problem but in another session it reappears.

Quit Mail
Open Keychain Access and search for your email account entry. Delete any you find.
Don't delete the ones using your email account as a username for other services, just the ones for your email account.
Open Mail and enter correct password.
This may not fix the problem, but it usually does.

Thank you. That email account had a lot of entries in Keychain Access (including web-based and Bridge). After carefully deleting what I thought to be the appropriate ones, I restarted the computer and Apple (Mac) Mail opened as usual and without the error message I described. I will watch out for a reoccurrence.
