iOS16.4 update to iPhone -- Siri navigation over Bluetooth to car truncates first few seconds

Ever since updating my iPhone to 16.4 (and 16.4.1) Siri, when speaking directions over Bluetooth to my car (2013-era VW infotainment system), is missing the first few seconds. So for example:

"At the next light, turn right"

becomes

"e next light, turn right"

This was never a problem before. This now occurs with every statement Siri makes to my car system. It "feels" like some sort of Bluetooth sync issue, but I'm just guessing.
